Q: Do you have old fashioned German Shepherds / old style German Shepherds / old world German Shepherds? Are you old fashioned German Shepherd breeders?Our dogs can be considered what is known as "old fashioned German Shepherds", "old style German Shepherds" or "old world German Shepherds" as our dogs have less angulation than typical American showline German Shepherds and do not have the roached back of many German showline German Shepherds. Our old fashioned German Shepherds have a straight-backed, sturdy appearance to a gentle slope, a more traditional look. Old fashioned German Shepherds tend to look similar to dogs seen in the 1950s and 1960s. They are good natural guardians, and love to play but not overly energetic.
While old fashioned German Shepherds are not necessarily synonymous with size, many of the old style German Shepherd breeders, such as ourself, who focus on the old fashioned German Shepherd appearance also have old world German Shepherds that have a tendancy to be larger than the standard.
On average a dog at a healthy weight (NOT fat!) from us ranges as follows: Females: 80-100+ pounds at maturity, 25-28"+ at the shoulder Males: 100-140+ pounds at maturity, 27-32+" at the shoulder Our old style German Shepherds come in both coat types, short and long coat, as well as various colors including sable, black/tan, white as well as solid black.
