Oversized German Shepherd Ash

Ash

Ash is a black/tan longer plush coat German Shepherd with a great personality! He is very affectionate with us and our young children, and while not realizing his size, sometimes thinks he's a 30 pound lap dog! He is great with everyone he meets, and while out and about, once kids get over his huge size, will come up and hug him. Most people he has come in contact with have jokingly offered to take him home as he is so easygoing, he's just exceptional and we love him to pieces! Ash is two years old, OFA'd, over 30" at the shoulder and weighs about 135 pounds with some filling out left to do. In the pictures below, you can see how Ash is continuing to grow and how he has changed over the past months and is starting to "bulk out". He is an oversized German Shepherd and above the AKC standard for size. Ash has a moderate topline with no extreme angulation, and while he enjoys an occasional game of fetch, he has low drive and is laidback both indoors and out.

Ash was bred not only for size but temperament, and his parents, grandparents and great grandparents were all well above average in both height and weight. Some names in his pedigree include Lady from Hades, Job for Job Selah, Ann and Carol's Teddy Bear, Arko v d Atzenau, Orry v Haus Antverpa, and dogs from Vom Haus Fokwulfe. We feel he is an excellent combination of everything rolled into one and are hoping he will pass not only his size but his WONDERFUL temperament along to all his puppies.

It's difficult to obtain straight shots of Ash being measured because he always wants to sit for a treat or wiggle around to be petted. However, since we've had many questions about how large he is, at least it will help you to get an idea of his size next to a standard 36 inch yardstick. Oversized German Shepherd Ash.

Ash is a great daddy! He hops in the whelping box when one of the mommies aren't tending to their babies and will do everything but nurse them. He will groom and clean the puppies when they are small, and of course once they are large enough, loves playing with them!
